Azerbaijan is located in the southeast of Trans-Caucasia area, faces Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan across Caspian Sea in the east, neighbors Iran in the south, Russia in the north, and Georgia and Armenia in the west. The coastline of Azerbaijan is 456 kilometers long.
Climate
Azerbaijan is continental climate, but in the wine region, the weather is warm when the grape is growing and is dry in winter. The average temperature of some of the Azerbaijan wine region is 10.5-15.5°C, the amount of precipitation is 250-600mm
History
Tovuz, in the northwest of Azerbaijan, is the most famous and the oldest wine region in the country. This region has attracted many foreign investments for winery starting from 1820-1830, including many German immigrants and investors, which further affected and improved the development of Azerbaijan winery industry and brewing technology.
Current situation and Manufacturing area
Now the wine region of Azerbaijan is concentrated in the hilly area of Caucasus and Kura river close to Kur-Araz lowland. Ganja, Nagorno-Karabakh, Shirvan and Nakhchivan have been developed to the central wine region of Azerbaijan in this century.

Since 1991, Azerbaijan has won 27 awards in different international wine competition.
